The Foundation’s main aim is to promote, develop and coordinate, principally at Courmayeur, research, studies, experiments and the organisation of meetings for further analysis and to publish factual knowledge concerning contemporary social issues of law and economics, with a particular focus on the international context.
The National Centre for Prevention and Social Defence (CNPDS) was founded in Milan in 1948 by Adolfo Beria di Argentine, with the aim of studying the conditions and various aspects of prevention and to contribute to identifying the features and dynamics of social change. This involved focusing on emerging social problems, in order to stimulate through public debate the attention and interest of national and international institutions ins the proposals arising from the different initiatives undertaken.
In 1989, in recognition of its international activity, the CNPDS was endowed with Advisory Status by the UN’s Economic and Social Council.
The Centre for Social Studies and Policies is a socio-economic research institute founded in 1964. In 1973, with support from major public and private bodies, it became a Foundation recognized by Presidential Decree no. 712 (11/10/1973). For more than thirty years, Censis has provided research, consulting, evaluation, and proposals in the basic sectors of society, including training, labour, welfare, territorial networks, environment, economy, local and urban development, public administration, media and culture.
